Discover Eastdale Avenue Bagels

Tucked away at 35 Eastdale Ave N in Poughkeepsie, there’s a spot locals swear by when it comes to starting the morning right: Eastdale Avenue Bagels. The moment you step inside, you’re met with the comforting aroma of freshly baked bagels, a smell that instantly sets the tone for the day. The place has that classic diner vibe, with staff who remember your order if you’ve stopped by a few times, making it feel more like a neighborhood kitchen than just another bagel shop.

What really stands out here is the variety on the menu. Beyond the golden, chewy bagels that everyone raves about, you’ll find hearty breakfast sandwiches, crisp salads, and deli-style lunches that make it a reliable stop whether you’re grabbing something quick or settling in for a chat with friends. Many reviews highlight how generous the portions are, which makes sense given the diner-style tradition of making sure no one leaves hungry. A bacon, egg, and cheese on a toasted sesame bagel is a favorite among regulars, while others come back again and again for their classic tuna melt or fresh coffee served piping hot.

Convenience also plays a role in why people choose this spot. Its location near Eastdale Village means it’s easy to swing by on the way to work or between errands. For first-time visitors, the welcoming atmosphere makes it simple to relax and try something new without feeling rushed. Even small details—like how the bagels are boiled before baking to lock in that perfect texture—show the attention to craft that has earned this place such a loyal following.

From a broader perspective, bagel shops like this aren’t just about food; they become part of the local rhythm. Studies by the National Restaurant Association point out that nearly 70% of diners say their loyalty to a restaurant comes down to consistent quality and community feel, and this place delivers on both fronts. It may not have the polish of a big-city brunch spot, but that’s exactly the charm—it’s reliable, unpretentious, and always satisfying. For anyone exploring dining options in Poughkeepsie, Eastdale Avenue Bagels is the kind of spot that quietly makes itself part of your routine.

  • Just go and get some bagels. It’ll be worth it. Fresh coffee, fresh bagels, what else can you ask for. Clean and upbeat inside with an awesome staff full of smiles on their faces and plenty of energy.

  • I think I have previously jumped the gun on best Bacon, Egg & Cheese sandwich in the area. This one takes the cake by far. We have been going here since they first opened. My gf loves their bagels (and she’s picky! lol) and I have yet to have a bad breakfast sandwich or muffin from them. Great prices, unbelievably fresh ingredients and honestly very nice people. Plus they always give me a fist bump when I come in. We probably go here on average around once a week, if not more. That’s how good they are. Would not hesitate to point any newcomers or locals in their direction. Thanks to Alex and Eastdale team.

  • This is our favorite place!!! The bagels are amazing especially toasted with butter or topped with any of their awesome cream cheeses. The variety of pastries, danishes or cookies are delicious too. We also love the New Yorker breakfast sandwich. The subs are just as good… the Avelino is my absolute favorite You’ll leave very satisfied. The staff is always friendly and welcoming

  • It's a good little bagel shop in that area, the bagels are done right in the water bath. The New Yorker breakfast sandwich is really good. The bagels remind me of the bagels from NYC. The only negative is they don't have jalapeno bagels, they do have jalapeno cream cheese, but its not the same.

  • I saw they are making bagels at the store itself in front of us, cool about this thing. Me and my friends too 2 everything wheat bagels with olive cream and jalapeños cream cheese and another garlic bagel with 2 Over well eggs and jalapeño cream cheese. The taste was okay, I don’t think my sandwich has enough cream cheese in it. Okay about it.As it was raining today, I wish it had at-least few little tables inside the store.

  • We love Athena Gyro, and have been wanting to try this bagel shop for months hoping the food would be equally amazing. We visited last Sunday and although it was busy & hectic, it was worth the wait and service was attentive and polite. The interior is small and they are serving a large volume of customers, so yes it’s confusing if people are waiting to order but we had no issue being served. We had two bacon egg and cheese on an everything egg bagel and my son had a muffin and a croissant (neither of which I tasted) but both looked delicious. The bagel sandwiches were divine and quite filling and generous with the bacon. The bagels themselves were chewy and it was a really good sandwich. Perhaps next time I will order ahead, but I would like to try their bagels on their own. It’s been hard to find a good chewy bagel since moving to Dutchess a few years ago. These were pretty close to hitting the mark and I can see why they were packed on a Sunday morning.
